Out-of-body-experiences (OBE) – Death/Near Death OBE/NDE, General anesthetic OBEs, Third Person OBEs, Astral Projection OBEs and Sex induced OBEs all contributed to the author having a different perspective as to body-brain-soul-mind-spirit relationships.

Def. An out-of-body experience (OBE or sometimes OOBE), is an experience that typically involves a sensation of floating outside of one’s body and, in some cases, perceiving one’s physical body from a place outside one’s body (autoscopy). About one in ten people has reported having an out-of-body experience at some time in their lives. Scientists know little about the phenomenon. OBEs are often part of the near-death-experience (NDE), and reportedly may also lead to astral projection. It is claimed that those experiencing an OBE sometimes observe details which were unknown to them beforehand.

In some cases the phenomenon appears to occur spontaneously; in others it is associated with a physical or mental trauma, use of psychedelic drugs, or a dream-like state. It is possible to induce an OBE deliberately, for example through visualization while in a relaxed, meditative state. Recent (2007) studies have shown that experiences somewhat similar to OBEs can be induced by direct brain stimulation. Relatively little is known for sure about OBEs. Some of those who experience OBEs may have willed themselves out of their bodies, while others found themselves being pulled from their bodies (usually preceded by a feeling of paralysis). In other accounts, the feeling of being outside the body was suddenly realized after the fact, and the experiencers saw their own bodies almost by accident.

Back From Beyond – A True Story About Dying to Learn the Meaning of Life is an autobiography by a humorist on a journey to discover The Meaning of Life, his Life Mission and his Life Purpose. A traumatic accident resulted in: an arm amputation, Bleeding to Death with a Near Death Experience (NDE), multiple OBEs (one with each general anesthetic), an OBE during sex, reincarnation (coming back into the dead body when it was jump-started), past-life-regressions, ego destruction, guilt elimination, visions, astral travel, epiphanies, an insatiable desire for knowledge, taking responsibility for whatever occurs, not fearing death, and dealing with body-brain-soul-mind-spirit issues. I had no personal life experience, religious training or knowledge pertaining to my NDE or subsequent drug induced OBEs. With a voracious curiosity, and no explanation for my experiences from the “authorities of the day” (doctors and religionists) I went on a quest to figure out the TRUTH. When asked, the religionist started looking for silver bullets, crosses and stakes.

Twenty million people in the US are disabled in some fashion. In fact, everyone is “dis-abled” in some form or fashion or what would be the challenge to living. Most of the dis-abilities are not visually apparent. Being an obvious cripple has its advantages – one is you stand out in a crowd, second you get lots of attention when you do things others would consider impossible. Being hand-decapped (left arm amputated) has been an entertaining Journey through Life.

By shifting how you look at things, the things you look at change. By looking at a dis-ability as a challenge to solve, Lance charged out of the hospital and back to work at the only job like it at the time – Dive Director of the largest and most sophisticated Under Water Habitat in the world. Post arm lose, Lance became a SCUBA Instructor Trainer, General Contractor, and qualified as a Commercial Pilot to name just a few of his accomplishments.

Everyone has deja vu and most people have some belief in prophecy. Most people have been to funerals and felt/saw/sensed visitation from the departed. A vast majority of people believe in “Life After Death.” Back From Beyond helps to explain in simple, humorous stories how and why NDEs and OBEs occur and how beliefs are formed.

This book is written from personal experience with a “Third Party” (OBE) view, applying “Common Sense” and the “KISS” principle to make the revelations it contains easy to understand. I use a “Conversation Style” questioning and answering the “Reader.” As a result of my experiences I am a humorist and story teller, which makes Back From Beyond a fun read. My background in Education makes this book educational with specific objectives. This combination produces an oxymoron, a fun/educational, self-help book.

When we look at anything, our view is “biased” by our perspective, perception and emotions – the box we see life through. The objective of the book is to take you outside-your-box-of-reference or at least let you know you have one. Life built the box, but the box (our belief systems) limits the amount of truth we allow ourselves. From the standpoint of Out of Body Experiences, life makes much more sense.

Anyone, at anytime, could have an OBE based on extreme fear, traumatic injury, giving birth, Death/Near Death Experience or during sex.
